In a move aimed at addressing commuter concerns, Bengaluru Metro has decided to slash fares by up to 30 percent, following a recent hike that triggered public dissatisfaction. The new fare structure is set to take immediate effect, offering much-needed relief to daily passengers.
Decision Driven by Passenger Feedback
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Managing Director Maheshwar Rao confirmed that the decision to reduce fares was influenced by feedback received from commuters. Rao stated, “We gathered valuable input from passengers, and based on their suggestions, the board concluded that a fare revision was necessary. We believe this adjustment will benefit approximately 30-45 percent of our daily travelers.”
Fare Reduction Effective Immediately
The revised fare structure, reflecting a reduction of about 30 percent, has come into effect starting today. Commuters can expect lower ticket prices across various routes, easing their financial burden.
Prioritizing Passenger Welfare
Rao further emphasized that the final decision was made after consulting the fare fixation committee. He reiterated that BMRCL remains committed to prioritizing passenger welfare and ensuring that metro services remain accessible and affordable for all.
